Position Summary & Requirements

The Senior Director of Asset Management is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the strategic management of a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This includes maximizing asset value, implementing business plans, and optimizing performance through a hands-on approach to financial management, tenant relations, capital improvements, leasing strategies, and operations. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in asset management, a deep understanding of commercial real estate markets, and a proven track record of driving value in both stabilized and value-add properties.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Deal Structuring and Documentation
    • Assist with deal structuring and negotiations of investment terms, including coordination with legal counsel.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience negotiating transaction documents, including JV agreements, loan documents and purchase sale agreements.
  • Projections
    • Oversee the creation of cash flow projection models with respect to an investment, utilizing both Argus and Excel. Utilize judgment, develop and form strong opinions on various underwriting assumptions (with emphasis on the restructuring capital costs of renovation programs) and appropriate pricing/return parameters.
  • Due Diligence and Closing
    • Undertake all due diligence responsibilities including detailed analysis of a property’s title and entitlement status, engineering and environmental condition, tenants and in-place lease review, operations and related financial statement review, analysis of market and competitive position, and other typical pertinent due diligence issues. Involves substantial data collection and review. Monitor transaction progress and coordinate closing.
  • Deal Sourcing and Review
    • Source and evaluate investment opportunities consistent with the firm’s investment strategy.  This role will involve substantial interaction with real estate brokers, asset allocators, lenders and owners. The ideal applicant will have pre-existing relationships and deal experience in an extensive number of local markets throughout the US.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in commercial real estate asset management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing a diverse commercial real estate portfolio (office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family, etc.).
    • Extensive experience in leasing strategy, tenant relations, financial modeling, and capital improvement planning.
    • Experience managing a team and working cross-functionally with various departments.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong financial acumen with proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and performance analysis.
    • Excellent understanding of commercial real estate market dynamics, valuation techniques, and investment strategies.
    • Strong negotiation skills, particularly in lease agreements and capital project contracts.
    • Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team of professionals.
    • High level of proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with real estate management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Argus, CoStar).
